Get every page out before you rebuild

Site migration

Export every page of an old site to Markdown, with a page count up front, before moving to a new CMS or stack.

Rebuilds fail on content. The new design is done, and the 300 old pages are still trapped in a CMS nobody wants to log into.

The fastest start is an inventory: every URL, every page’s text, in files. Run the domain through the tool on the home page. It tells you how many pages it found. Pick a tier, $9 for up to 50, $29 for up to 250 or $79 for up to 1,000, and download a ZIP of Markdown files, one per page.

Then what

  • Import the Markdown into your new CMS or static site generator.
  • Use the page list to build a redirect map so you keep your SEO.
  • Take screenshots of the old site as a visual reference.

For agencies

If you migrate sites regularly, a subscription with the crawl endpoint costs less per page than one-off exports and plugs into your own tooling.

Questions

Do I get images?

The export is Markdown text with links to images. Download the assets you need separately.

Can I check the page count first?

Yes. The home page tool reports how many pages it found before you choose a tier.
